What happens if child labor is detected?

The organization that hires NWK’s services can choose between discontinuing the supply from that producer, or impose to the producer a “behavior adjustment term” to adapt beneath a supervised period of time to “child labor-free” practices.

What happens to the producers in case of child labor is detected?

They will not qualify to continue supplying your customer. Not being able to obtain the “child labor free” seal, they must review with their client the supply conditions of their production, if they continue.

Depending on the severity of the non-compliance, intervention may be given alarm to the local control authorities.

What happens to children detected in labor regime?

NWK will make contact with local support institutions, whether governmental or NGOs, in order to provide them with assistance and to improve their situation of social vulnerability.

No, the cost of the certification process is negligible in relation to the value of the certified raw material.

Who pays for this service?

The buyer of the raw material will be the one who contracts NWK to certify that its suppliers do not use child labor in their supply chain.

In some cases, the Control Authority itself may use the services of NWK to make use of a technological tool to exercise its control function, or Producers who wish to self-certify to improve their business opportunities.

What happens if the producer does not want his field to be monitored?

The monitoring process is not designed “behind the back” of the producers, but in collaboration with them. The producer will benefit from the certification to the extent that he wishes, in good faith, to demonstrate that he does not use child labor to market his agricultural production.

Lack of compliance or collaboration will inhibit the issuance of the “free of child labor” certificate and consequently the penalties for breach of contract will apply, such as not being able to deliver or collect for their production.

What happens if weather conditions do not allow field monitoring?

Monitoring is sustained over time. When eventually there is a period where the weather conditions do not allow the taking of images, surely those same conditions will not allow the work in the field. Coincidentally, in adverse weather conditions there is usually no harvest work and other activities either.

What kind of raw materials can be audited?

The variety is extremely diverse, ranging from fruits, vegetables, grains and any product that could potentially use human labor for some part of its production process. The monitoring strategy will vary according to the raw material.
