The National Government has launched the “Buena Cosecha” (Good Harvest) Program with the aim of creating and strengthening care and support spaces for children up to 18 years old, who are the children of temporary rural workers during the harvest months. The goal is to prevent and eradicate child labor. Inspired by the Renatre’s “Crecer” Program, this initiative seeks to generate a safe and educational environment for the children of rural workers.
The “Buena Cosecha” Program, driven by the national government through the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security of the Nation, acknowledges the experience and success of the Renatre’s “Crecer” Program. It aims to promote coordination between the national, provincial, and municipal governments, unions, companies, and civil society organizations to protect children and eradicate child labor in the Argentine countryside.
The “Crecer” Program, implemented by Renatre since 2017, has benefited around 2500 children and adolescents in provinces such as Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, and Misiones. The “Crecer” Centers provide a safe space for the children of rural workers to play and learn while their parents engage in intensive agricultural activities.
Renatre continues to expand its reach and is in the process of establishing new centers in provinces such as Entre Ríos and Tucumán. These spaces are designed to promote the integral development of children and provide support to rural families by offering a safe environment for their children during the harvest season.
With the launch of the “Buena Cosecha” Program, the National Government and Renatre demonstrate their commitment to preventing child labor and protecting the rights of children in the Argentine countryside. This initiative reflects the importance of working together to improve working conditions and ensure a safer and more promising future for rural families in Argentina.
